DIY Paper Lantern

This is a paper lantern I made yesterday. I purchased this sheet of handmade paper at Grand Art Supply here in Lansing.
I started with a 2 liter pop bottle and cut off the end. I cut a slot for my light (a small light from a xmas ceramic house), and filled the bottom with pebbles for weight. This lantern would also work with a tealight candle in a small glass holder.
I trimmed the top of the paper with satin ribbon to add some stability to the paper, then wrapped the paper around the pop bottle base.
I used glue dots along the seam to hold the paper together, and tape runner to attach the ribbon. No waiting for glue to dry!
This lantern could be personalized with any type of paper. Use as a table centerpiece for a wedding? I think so!

Invitation Design

My inspiration for designing wedding invitations came from my Graphic Design Portfolio class that I am taking now. I needed to come up with some graphic design work, and put together a portfolio to show off my designs. I had to create some new pieces, since most of my design pieces were done over 8 years ago!
I have decided to try expand my wedding photography business to include wedding invitation design. This is a new project for me, but I'm having fun with designs and colors. I still need to contact some printers in my area to see how I can get my designs printed!

Pass It Foward

I covered an event on Saturday night at the Impression 5 Science Center for ePIFanyNow.org. The Event was a "Pass it Forward" event. Volunteers met up in the afternoon, then set out to "pass it forward" and good something nice for someone.
Later that evening, everyone returned to Impression 5 to share their stories about what they had done. There were lots of stories about donating money for someone to get food, a bus ride. etc. There were also stories of people just donating their time and doing something nice for someone.

May Weddings

I just had back to back weddings in May. The first was an early afternoon ceremony at the MSU Alumni Chapel. Photos were taken after the ceremony on campus, around Sparty and Beaumont Tower. The reception was held at Eagle Eye. Photos were taken before the reception on the putting green, and on the golf course during the sunset. The bridal party was very energetic and playful, and did alot of funny/action shots.

The second wedding I shot was held at the new chapel at Hawk Hallow. The chapel is a beautiful little "chapel in the woods", surrounded by trees and golf greens, with a lovely waterfall feature in front. The wedding party piled into a "party bus" limo and went to MSU campus for photos by Sparty & Beaumont Tower. The reception was held at Hawk Hallow. Some beautiful photos were taken on the green over looking that lake during sunset.
More photos to be posted soon!
